Chile Mandarins Harvest, Import Murcotts

Chile Mandarins Harvesting and Loading soon – Citrus, Fresh Fruit – Export/Import Fresh Fruit article July 2015, Chile farming

The W. Murcotts harvest will start week 32 with the first containers leaving Chile ports between August 7-10th. W.Murcotts are the late variety of mandarins (aka ez peelers). A few farms are harvesting and loading already, but if a producer can wait, then they should wait and allow the market to get hungry for the murcotts and stimulate a price increase, because right now there´s still a lot of the early produce available for import. The cleaner the market, the better pricing will be. So there´s no rush, just as long as it goes out between the end of the current clementines from Peru, Chile, and Uruguay, and before the California clementines season starts. That’s the sweet spot for Chilean murcotts exporters.
